They created the elegant sandal, jump starting the competition to lower
heels.

In France, Charles Jourdan introduced the steel and wooden
heel in 1950. Dior's shoe designer claimed to have created the first true
stiletto in 1955.Givenchy and Chanel joined the fight to lower the pump.
