By
the mid-1920s the shape of the male suit had changed quite considerably.
Trousers, which had previously been narrow and tapered, now widened (known in
their most extreme form as ‘Oxford Bags’) and the jacket widened at the
shoulder and loosened at the waist to become much squarer in shape. The slacker
fit and more geometrical line echoed similar developments in the female
silhouette.
