| As with
women’s dress, there was an unmistakable air of greater ease and
mobility after the ending of war with a general trend towards more
informality during the 1920s and 1930s. The shirt collar was lowered and
gradually the stiff, winged style was replaced by a soft, turned-down
collar; the frock coat, so much associated with the late Victorian period,
passed out of fashion and the morning suit was relegated to more formal
wear. |
