Certain neuron activation fucntions fits best into a network that can recognize an image, and others are best at recognizing speach and voices.

To give you the full understanding of how the neuron works we have made an applet simulation of neuron.

There is also a little program for downloads, in which you can alter the inputs, weights, threshold and the activation-functions.
