The Monument of the Hiroshima Gas Corporation built in memory of its employees killed in the atomic bombing was erected on August 2, 1967, on the riverside greenbelt ieast bank of the Motoyasu Riverj, site of its former headquarters. This cylindrical monument made of black granite is about 2 meters high and 1 meter in diameter. Five gas lamos on the top of the monument are kept burning, emottiong a yellow light. The old company building with theree stories above and one story under ground was brick. Located 250 menters from the hypocenter, it was completely bestroyed except for the southwent corner of thebuilding. |
