The Peace Tower located on the greenbelt to the south of the East Building of the Horoshima Peace Memorial Museum was erected on October 30, 1974, by the Hiroshima Prefectural Committee for the Erection of a Tower to Commemorate Hirohsima's Declaration of Itself as a World Federalist City. That deciaration had been made in 1954. The tower is a graceful structure of five sides which symbolize the five continents.The front side is of Grecian marble.The tower was designed by Masami kawamura. |
