The Hiroshima Second Middle School A-bomb
Memorial Monument stands on the Hon River
by the International Con-ference Center,
Hiroshima. When then the studens were removing
houses on the riverback, they were exposed
to the A-bomb, and many were killed. There
is a poem, " Aswe think of your faces and deeds there are no words. We can only weep," carved on the front of the monument which is a large natural stone. On the back is carved: "An, August 6, 1945. Seven teachers and 343 student have died in the atomic blast and become the cornerstone of peace.Built on August 6, 1953, by the bereaved famulues of the Hiroshima 2nd MiddleSchool." |
