Peace Fountain



The Peace Fountain is located near the Children's Peace Monumkent. On September 1, 1960, it was consteucted to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Hiroshima Junior Chamder of Commerce. Along the Hon River went of the fountain, students of various middle schools were engaged in the work of removing buildings when the bomb fell, killing most of them. There badly wounded children criedout for water as they lay dying. This fountain is dedicated to these dead brothers and sisiters of the memders of the Hiroshima Junior Chamder of Commerce.
As it supplies water for its visitors it wintesses to the value of peace. Built of Oya stone, it sends out pure water from a lion's ehad on the left side.
