Toa Payoh - The Town Centre

Various facilities are at the Town Centre which provides for the entertainment and recreational needs of the people living there. A list of facilities summarises what they have there:

Bus Interchange
As with the other main towns, Toa Payoh has a bus interchange of its own which is also linked to other Town Centres by various buses. It serves as a stopping point for tired bus drivers and buses can pick up passengers here, or at bus-stops along the way to other towns.

 

MRT Station
The Toa Payoh MRT Station is underground and is currently undergoing major redevelopment works. Just like other MRT Stations, it provides easy transportation to the residents and people from other towns to get to Toa Payoh or other parts of Singapore.

Shopping Centres

As it is an old town, Toa Payoh Town Centre does not have any major shopping centres but has streets that are lined with shops selling anything from shoes to household items.

Toa Payoh Sports Hall / Swimming Complex / Stadium

Residents at Toa Payoh get to enjoy doing various sporting activities with the stadium, sports hall and swimming complex all located just a stone's throw away from the town centre. The Singapore Table Tennis Association and the Singapore Table Tennis Academy also have their home here. Toa Payoh Stadium is the home of the Balestier Tigers in the S-League. The recently concluded School's National Swimming Championships were held at the swimming complex.

Toa Payoh Regional Library
Books and multimedia servies at the library offer residents recereation, entertainment and information all at one stop. Students from surrounding schools also flock here to find materials for their schoolwork and projects.
