Our goal is to raise awareness of the Indiana Dunes (Indiana Dunes State Park and the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore). In doing this, we hope that people will come to appreciate the Dunes more and understand some of the associated tragedies such as those pictured below. We thank you for visiting our page and hope that you will learn something about the Indiana Dunes.
In high contrast to the Dunes, you can see
in these two pictures (to the left and
below) industry that exists near the
Dunes and polluted the area.
On some summer days there are warnings
about the pollution in the water and people
are told not to swim in the lake. Most of
the industries in the area took out parts of
the Dunes, such as the Sandmine area of
the West Beach Succession Trail.

Below are pictures of pop cans left in various areas of the Dunes' trails. Sadly enough, these cans haven't been here very long, as volunteers and workers at the Dunes' Parks often clean out this garbage. This indicates that people often litter on the trail.

To the left is a picture
that shows where people have
continuously walked and created a path
of erosion on the side of a Dune.
This can also be seen on the Stay On The Trail, OR
ELSE!! page.
The people on the beach are
here at their own risk. A warning was
issued about pollution levels in the lake.
At the state park, signs were posted and rangers were preventing visitors from entering the water. Although signs were also posted at other (non-state) beaches, people ignored the warnings and went into the water anyway.
