| Bonding is an emergent property of water. Water is attracted to itself. Cohesiveness is important to living systems because if HOH wasn't attracted to itself it would vaporize more quickly, causing rapid dehydration in animals and plants, and evaporation of our oceans that they could not exist. Also allows for more movement of HOH through vesicles. Surface tension is a result of cohesion.

with a charge. |
