Welcome to E-Bionet and ChemWorld!
Nothing on this website is without purpose. Functionality
and load time were main objectives we pursued in the development
of this website. Instead of creating 4 different versions
of the website to accommodate visitors with Internet speeds
ranging from 28.8 to the 1000s kbps, we decided to keep it
simple. Some people may think that just because the bandwidth
is there it must be used. Not the case we believed. We believe
E-Bionet/ChemWorld provides tremendous educational resources
and learning tools without alienating any major browser version
in use today.
As you can see there is no text-only version of the website. The reasons
are twofold:
- For every image acting as navigation above there are corresponding
text links that act as secondary navigational tools
for those with graphics enabled and primary navigational
tools for those with graphics disabled.
- You can't teach the masses
without diagrams! Not
everyone can read a text description of molecular structures
and interactions and Snap! comprehend it like that.
In fact, most teachers could probably only name a
handful of students like that in their lifetime. Instead
we had to be prepared to teach everyone: both visual
and auditory (textual) learners. Mr. Straight-A's
will probably use us only for review, but most of his friends
will probably enjoy the comprehensive approach: In
biology we have topics that range from
metabolism and genetics to organisms and ecology;
in chemistry, we cover much of everything from
nomenclature to nuclear chemistry.
