Teaching History with GIS

This site is the home to original GIS data that allows anybody to create their own maps of nearly any country from numerous time periods. Just as flash cards improve vocabulary, our interactive maps allow students to learn the names of nations around the world. In addition to the geographical information, we have privided corresponding historical data to accompany the maps. The potential for GIS in education should be embraced, especially in history and geography, as GIS brings together multiple skills while making learning more engaging.
