on of Lorenzo de' Medici. His historical claim to fame was his inability to live up to the high standards of political skill
set by his father.
Piero lacked his father's delicacy and charm when dealing with domestic allies in the political areana. When
Charles VIII of France set out to claim Naples for his own, Piero was ensnared by his own inability to make a decision.
He ended up caving into all of the demands that Charles made and gave up a good portion of land in the process. He
also gave Charles a huge loan of money for his military campaign. The people of Florence were so enraged that the
Medici family was sent into exile.
