Educational opportunities

During the last decades, and I eat consequence of the urbanization, the access to the Latin American population's education has experienced a remarkable increase. In 1960, only the whole population's 58% of 6 to 11 years of age was inscribed in primary schools. In 1987, the inscription in these arrived to 86%. From 1970, the proportion of students that attend high schools has also increased vastly, the same as the number of university students, which has passed of 500000 in 1960 to 6 millions in 1990. The access of the woman to the education continues being something smaller, but from 1960 the increase of the escolarización has been similar in both sexes.
The biggest escolaridad has given access to the market to a more learned and more demanding group of consumers. The net effect of this change can be complex, since although it is probable that the consumers of more revenues are more exposed to the propagandistic techniques of the tobacco companies and have more available money for their products, it is also possible that they know the noxious effects better of] tobacco in the health. The existent data on the relationship between the prevalencia of the tabaquismo and the escolaridad level are ambiguous.
