Santiago of Cuba 

The city of Santiago of Cuba, in the end suroriental of the Caribbean island, is an important port center that is one of the most important places to export of agricultural and industrial products. The pure cigarettes that are manufactured in Cuba, as those of the image, follow a process of practically handmade elaboration. That is one of the keys that endorse the quality of the same ones. 
    
Although tobacco is cultivated in about 120 countries of diverses climatological conditions that arrive for the north up to the 50º of latitude, the best commercial works they are manufactured with the product obtained in certain regions that they dedicate a lot of attention and work to its cultivation. 
The plants of the different stumps — those dedicated to the sting production Maryland or burley for cigarettes and of gut, chapel and it castrates for pure cigarettes—they are transplanted of the cold boxes in that they are obtained from the field; each type demands a special régime of watering and fertilizer application. To obtain the big and thin leaves with those that the layer of the cigars is elaborated they extend on the big fields covered with sack cloth . With the purpose of favoring the growth of the biggest leaves, the plants are cut off before they were flowering . The leaves usually gather by hand and as they mature. Next they are spread in barracones and they are treated to the air, with fire or with heat, so that the leaf acquires when withering the color and the looked for aroma. The cured one with air that is applied to many tobaccos dedicated to the production of cigarettes and cigarettes, hard among six eight weeks. To cure to the fire lights a blaze in the floor of the barracón and it is let that the leaves are impregnated of the formed smoke. The cured one with heat is carried out applying the heat driven through some flues carefully, so that the leaves they ferment and dry off in a correct way. The leaves this way cured they are classified, in general in function of the position that occupied in the plant, the color, the size and other characteristics; they are packed and they are taken to the warehouses where they are auctioned.
