| Mary Knoll Convent School, otherwise known as the 'Catholic Foreign Mission Society of America, Inc., was set up in 1911 to preach to people in China. To get to China, they had to go to Hong Kong first, so in 1918, a group of priests came to Hong Kong and later went to preach in China. | ||||||||

| In 1935, after two years of building, a house was built in Stanley for the priests for recreational purposes and a language centre where they could learn Chinese. But in 1952 they were told that they could no longer carry on preaching in China, so they came to Hong Kong instead and have been here ever since. | ||||||||
