On 20th January 1900, the governor of Hong Kong laid the foundation stone on the then new building on Nathan Road, then known as Robinson Road.

The building is still standing on Nathan Road today but is used as a Heritage Centre
Back then, the school was known as the Kowloon British School and was for the not so well off Europeans who lived in Tsim Sha Tsui that wanted their children to have an English education. The school was only open to European children and stayed that way until 1946.
After the school moved to a new location on Tin Kwong Road in Ho Man Tin, it changed it's name to King George the Fifth School, which is now a secondary school with students of all nationalities.

During the Japanese occupation in the Second World War, the school became a hospital, which is why it is rumoured to be haunted!!!
