    Tong   sculpture

When you come to the area where the Tong people live, you can definitely drink the natural well water with cool and sweet taste. In their daily life the Tong people depend on the wells for a living. Thinking of the origins while drinking the water, they develop a strong feeling towards the well water. No matter which village you go, you may find they are proud of a good well. To protect the water from contaminated, early they regulated that building houses, pigsties and cowhides near a well is not allowed. They mounted wells with black stones in arched, square and circular forms. They did it with elaborate art to keep the origins clean and sanitary. Sometimes summer houses were built around a well for passersby to have a rest. On the main roads, they made stone dipper for people to drink. To keep the water from being poisoned, the Tong people raised 3 to 5 pieces of fish in each well. When you see the fish moving, you can be absolutely sure that you can drink the water.
