Proving Congruent Triangles

Objective:

           Learning about Ratio and proportion

Lesson 7-1 Ratios and Proportion:

Ratio: The quotient when the first number is divided by the second

Simplest Form: The lowest that the quotient is reduced down to.

Proportion: An equation stating that two ratios are equal

a/b = c/d  and a:b = c:d

Extended Proportions: An equation stating that three or more ratios are equal

a/b = c/d = e/f

Extremes: The first and last terms of a proportion

Means: The middle terms of a proportion

Properties of Proportions

a/b = c/d is equivalent to: (1) ad = bc (2) a/c = b/c  (3) b/a = d/c  (4) (a+b)/b = (c=d)/d

If a/b = c/d =e/f = ....., then (a + c + e...)/ (b + d + f...) = a/b= c/d .......
