Ancient Russian wedding was a very complicated and beautiful performance that lasted several days. Every word and movement, every detail of costume was full of deep meaning. In antiquity each person realized himself as a member of definite clan. Children belonged to the kin of their parents. When a daughter married she left her parental family and entered the family of her husband. According to the views of ancient Slavs a girl "died" for her own kin and "was born again" for the kin of her husband as an already married woman. That is why the bride was the main personage on the Russian wedding.
