Problems BridgeIf we look at problems in a timeline, we will see that many problems have been successfully solved. These include elimination of some diseases, such as smallpox, solving the problem of space flights, incredible increase in volume of harvest of wheat and other grain crops, etc. However, some problems still exist and moreover, we discover new problems with the increase of our knowledge about the surrounding world. A bridge connects two locations together; a "timebridge" connects past and future stages of life. Because problems are advancing from the past into the future, we gave this section the name "Problems Bridge". All problems can be divided into four main sections:
Let's take a closer look at some of these problems. Medical And Biological Problems One of the main medical and biological problems is how to prolong the human life. The first step is to eliminate diseases and their causes. AIDS is currently one of the most dangerous diseases. All types of media focus the attention all over the world. United Nations even has a special committee designated to fight this disease and assist the sick. Besides AIDS, many other diseases based on failures in the genetic code exist. One of the less-known diseases is Rett syndrome. We will provide to the attention of our visitors some information about this disease taken from the "International Rett Syndrome Association" (IRSA). For more information, you can visit the IRSA website at http://www.rettsyndrome.org/. Rett syndrome is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects approximately 1 in 15,000 females. Despite its relative prevalence among causes of cognitive impairment, the syndrome was recognized as a distinct clinical entity only in 1966, by the Austrian physician Andreas Rett. In a German medical journal he described an unusual constellation of symptoms that occurred repeatedly in female patients. These girls appeared to develop normally until 6-18 months of age. Then they gradually lost the ability to speak, developed seizures and irregular breathing, and entered a period of apparent emotional or physical distress, with inconsolable crying, agitation, tooth-grinding, and refusal of food. Most curious was the girls' loss of conscious control of their hands: instead of reaching for desired objects, they seemed able only to wring their hands, unceasingly, compulsively. The delayed onset and peculiarity of the symptoms, their appearance only in girls, and the plateau reached after a period of intense regression were all extraordinarily puzzling. Dr. Rett published an English description of this syndrome in 1977, but it was not until 1983 when a paper in "Annuals of Neurology" by Hagberg and colleagues finally made American neurologists aware of Rett syndrome and gave an official name to the disorder. Today, researchers and doctors are trying to find ways to "repair" this genetic disorder and we believe that in the very nearest future, not only will this problem will be solved, but also Rett syndrome could be predicted and prevented before birth. People who would like to contribute their time, knowledge and money to this important fight can contact the International Rett Syndrome Association at irsa@rettsyndrome.org. We can name the following alarming geological problems: earthquakes, volcano eruptions and floods. We will closer examine the earthquake problem, however, to find out more about volcano eruptions, floods, and other geological problems, visit your local library. Earthquakes can be divided into 3 components: prediction, prevention and elimination of consequences. Currently, some methods for predicting earthquakes exist. But all of these methods are able to only predict earthquakes with a certain degree of probability. Probability, in itself, poses a major problem. To avoid the dangers to the population, often millions of people must be relocated far away from the danger zone. You can imagine the cost of such measures. Probability can be calculated fairly easily, yet such great responsibility lies on the decision-making persons that the needed actions are often not taken. So prediction of earthquakes is not only a geological problem, its later stages include social and technological problems. Prediction of earthquakes should still be secondary, because in either case of solving the resettlement questions, all kinds of resources are spent. Therefore, from this paradoxical situation, we can conclude the extreme vitality of earthquake prevention. One of the existing techniques is providing small underground nuclear explosions to relieve stress in the predicted areas. However, this method has its own dangers and it was never implemented. Thus, this is an open area for your ambitions. Direct your attention to the most alarming problem in technology today: safety. Remember: Chernobyl nuclear power plant failure (Ukraine), explosion of the "Challenger" spacecraft (USA) as well as several failures of spacecraft in the former Soviet Union, airplane crashes, etc. Using the approach of ideal solution we propose on our website, let's ask ourselves a question: "What is the ideal solution to prevent these technological problems?" And we can give a general answer: "the systems must find and eliminate the problems on its own." These systems must be completely controlled by artificial intelligence. Furthermore, we advise you to go to any patent search website (i.e. http://www.patents.ibm.com/) and search for a topic in your field of expertise and/or interest. After finding a patent which you are interested in, consider it as your starting point and using the recommendations on our website, as well as other sources, begin your advance towards the ideal solution. The most alarming environmental problems are water and air pollution, which are results of imperfect technologies. As we have done in geological problems, solutions can be divided into three subdivisions: prediction, prevention, and elimination of the consequences. A special branch of technology has been specially set up to deal with the consequences of oil spills. Huge oil tankers explode in the open sea killing fish, harming the environment, etc. Let's suppose that a gas stations' gasoline tank is leaking. The fuel can reach the water reservoirs, pipelines, etc. and in the end, reach water consumers, such as you and me. This problem is especially common to the United States having huge amounts of automobiles and gas stations. The fight against spills and leaks is mostly lead by a company called "New Pig". This company developed a line of new materials to selectively absorb oil from oil-water mixtures and new technologies of using these materials. To learn more about contemporary clean-up materials and methods visit the "New Pig website". Comprehensive information about environmental problems and solutions can be found on the "United States Environmental Protection Agency" website. At all times the world is suffering many social problems such as wars, epidemics, hunger, etc. The activities of the United Nations are focused around finding solutions to these global social problems. We would like to introduce to you a specific social problem - "free time problem". This problem is very familiar to students and adults of various ages. Many of the criminal cases and other "useless" for society matters derive from inefficient of improper use of free time. In the future, the percentage of free time will increase due to incredible mechanization and automatization of numerous industries and implementation of artificial intelligence. With the increase in free time, criminal activity is also likely to intensify. Therefore, solving this problem now is of a great importance not only to government agencies, but also to each individual. How can a problem of this magnitude be solved? Our answer simply lies in the name of our website - Become An Inventor. To solve this problem, let's use the ideal solution approach: What is the ideal solution? In this section, we mentioned only selected problem. Remember: besides the problems mentioned, problems of energy, space exploration, communications, etc.
