The ensemble of the constructions former Voskresensky(Resurrection)monastery is located to the west from the Uglich Kremlin. The time of the foundation of a monastery is not known, it is suggested, that it existed in the 16th century and was a little bit closer to the Volga.
In the middle of the 17th century it was transferred to a present place. The remained monastery's building were built in the 70-th years of the 17th century by the Rostov metropolitan Iona in memory of his stay in Voskresensky monastery. The ensemble of the buildings is consists from a five-domed cathedral with side-chapels, and also a belfry with a refectory, and the one-domed church. All of the construction are located in a row from the north to the south. The cathedral looks strict and monumental. This impression is strengthened with the powerful gallery with the arcades and the massive central dome. The porch with double beautiful arches is located opposite to the western entrance. A stone staircase and the hipped-roof covering of the entrance were not remained. To the southern party a belfry attaches, executed in the traditions of Rostov and Borisovay a belfries. On the first floor the travel gate to an internal court yard is arranged, the second floor presents an arcade, on third floor there is a small church, the fourth floor is actually a belfry.
