The Bell-Tower

One of the most important buildings of the Trinity monastery is the 5-tier bell-tower of 1741-1769, which has the world-wide fame. It was built by the architects I.F.Michurin and D.V.Ukhtomsky. There were 42 bells on all the tiers of the bell-tower. One of them with the weight of 2000 poods was in that time the biggest one and was of great interest as an example of founding art of the 18^th century. The clock made by a Tula masters was placed above the third tier. The exclusively well-proportioned and refined bell-tower of Trinity-Sergius Laura with the height of 86 meters became a worthy completion of the whole ensemble of the out standing monuments, which were being constructed during many centuries.
