The Red Chamber

The Red Chamber

To the south of the church of Apostle John along the west and south walls of the Kremlin there is a corner-like building of the Red Chamber. The civil construction, known as “The Mansion for the Sovereign Advent“, was built in the 70s of the 17-th century. The mansion had two floors. The first one was used for store rooms, on the second was the Red Chamber itself with rooms for noble guests. Its vaults is placed upon the massive octahedral pillar. The walls and vaults were painted with frescoes and the floor was covered with cast-iron slabs.
