THE VOLADORA

Like in any another organization, women colaborate with the Witchcraft World. In the case of the Chiloé Witchcraft, there exist women who work like messengers, they are called Voladora.

La Voladora is a witch too. But she doesn't participate in the witch activities, because she isn't familiar with many of the secrets because the other witches and wizards don't inform her about all the aspects of the witchcraft.

However, La Voladora has special atributes : She can transform herself into a bauda.

To fly, La Voladora has to undergo a magic process in order to lighten her body. This process consists of vomiting her intestines onto a lapa, that she later hides in the forest.

After this she becomes a bauda, she is no longer recognized as a human being.

Thanks to this transformation she, unlike other witches, doesn't need the famous macuñ to fly.

When she flies, La Voladora makes loud, unpleasant noises.

It is said that La Voladora doesn't fly, but it is the Devil himself who flies in her place, while she stays in the ground with a flying attitude and moves.

La Voladora finishes her mission in the dawn, and in this moment she has to swallow her intestines to recuperate her human shape.
