TENTEN-VILU V/S CAICAI-VILU

Long time ago the Big Chiloé Island, and all the little islands that surrounded it, were a single body with American Continent.

But suddenly one day the Waters Goddess Coicoi-vilu appeared in order to destroy everything on the land.

Obeying her commands, waters began to rise and flood valleys and hills, burying terrified habitants in the deepest places of the sea.

When all seemed lost, the Land Goddess  appeared. Tentén-vilu began to fight against her enemy, rising lands and protecting habitants, helping them to came up, transforming them into birds, or giving them the power to fly.

The battle was so long. Finally Tentén-vilu won, but only partially, because, although Coicoi-vilu was gone, water never returned to their original position.

The consecuence of all this battle was that all valleys, hills and mountains that were before in the zone, today are a beautiful group of islands called "Archipiélago de Chiloé".
