The 2 High-Tech team conducted an interview with Jason Bellard in order to find out his thoughts on the future of technology.
Khang- What is the most interesting development in technology that you think other than the Internet?
Jason- Other than the Internet, I mostly use the cell phone. I think Biotechnology might be the most interesting development to most. But the most interesting to me is the cell phone. The cell phone has made the most difference in the way I behave on a daily basis other, than the Internet.
Khang - So do you think cell phones will change over time.
Jason - Oh yeah, Ill be able to receive my email and I shouldn't have to have a phone at home, I should be able to live off a cell phone. My cell phone should be able to send email and send files back and forth. I assume within 5 or 10 years or so - no, 5 years at the most.
Khang - So do you think they will have view screens so we can view each other and all of that.
Jason - There should be an option certainly. It would also be cool if I could take a picture with my cell phone a send it somewhere else. I wouldn't make it mandatory thing. Future cell phones should also hold most forms of wireless communication.
Khang - Well actually other people at MIT are working on something that's supposed to be like invisible computers where they put computer chips in the walls.
Jason - Yeah, that would be very cool. That's what people want. When I go home I wait for the computer to log on to find information like the weather. I would like the information to be right there and all I would have to do is look at the walls for it. I don't want to have to sit at my desk, turn on the computer and all theses other steps. I want the information to be right there - omnipresent.
Tyson - Do you know of any form of technology that will have a negative effect on the environment or us personally.
