2 High-Tech Questionnaire
What do you feel will be the major technological development in the next 10 years? (Prediction)
Anyone and everyone is aware of the Internet and how useful it is as a tool for work and play. But the Internet has reached a status in society we have not seen in many years since the locomotive and automobile to personal computers. It has in fact, replaced individual workers and made some of their jobs obsolete. We've become so attached to the Internet that if we did not 'logon' for a day, we would feel lost or left behind. We've become so familiar and comfortable with it that we purchase airline tickets, pay bills, buy stocks, and even buy groceries online. These are all productive things that we can do over the Internet. The question would then be, how can we get more people online and into our site.
Please describe the development and explain why it will be so important.
Each day, hundreds of thousands of people across the globe are signing on to the Internet for the first time. People around the world are seizing technology, one where advances are measured in terms of size (smaller is better) and speed (usually doubled), and using them to their benefit. Technology is developing so rapidly as we speak that new personal computers introduced to the marketplace today would be in 'garage sales' by next fall. Connections made to the Internet are increasing in speed so that people are able to do more transactions in less the time. Cable modems and direct service lines (DSL) are now being offered to the general public for a reasonable fee that can connect at 100+ times the speed of traditional phone line connections. We've even seen dozens of Internet service providers (ISPs) advertising free Internet access through their corporate sponsors. So we know that the tools are there for people to 'get connected'.
