Skycar M400Written by: Jair Mendes Moller International has built the very first flying vehicle called Skycar M400. The ideas, which lead to the production of the Skycar, were generated from the British Harrier jump jet. The Skycar has vertical takeoff and landing. It holds a maximum of four passengers. It uses automotive gas and it has emergency parachutes. It can fly up to 30,000 ft. The Skycar can be used for lots of different things - anything that requires that you get there quickly! It has the advantages of no more red lights and traffic - plus it gives us speed and convenience. And it also poses some questions. What about the police? Will they need skycars in order to stop people driving skycars and performing illegal acts? What will be considered illegal in the sky? These are questions that must be answered before people actually start buying these flying cars. Limited numbers of Skycars are expected to be available within the next 18 months. These models will be used for military applications and marketing demonstrations. Yet, the FAA certified model is little more than two years away. There are over 100 reservations for the FAA certified models. After the government has certified the vehicle as airworthy the models will be available to the public. This will be a long process. So expect to see them flying around in four to six years from now. Click here to see a picture of the skycar.
