What is it?

Rubeosis is caused when weak, unstable blood vessels emerge because other diseases have lowered the blood vessel count. This is most common after surgery has been performed and the eye is trying to repair itself.

What causes it?

Diabetic retinopathy and vein occlusion are two common conditions that could lead to rubeosis. Also, rubeosis has been know to result in glaucoma.

Symptoms

  1. poorly developed blood vessels forming on iris  

Treatment

Similar treatment to diabetic retinopathy and vein occlusion should be considered to avoid future problems, such as glaucoma.
