Find
out If You Have One of These Common Conditions Above
What
is it?
Lice
can exist in areas of poor sanitation and on hair. In the case
of the eyes, the eyelashes can be home to lice, most typically, pubic
lice. These lice lay eggs on the base of the eyelashes and multiply,
causing inflammation of the eyelids and itchiness.
What
causes it?
Lice,
normally from sexual contact, jump from the pubic area to the eyelashes.
Children are also susceptible to this through anyone who is infected
with lice, by contact, mainly through family members.
Symptoms
1.
itchy
eyelids
2.
red
eyelids
Treatment
Living
cleanly is the best way to prevent lice from appearing anywhere in
the house. Ointments are used to soothe the itch and kill the lice.
Patients should also clean the eyelashes, as well as the rest of the
body, regularly with tear-free shampoo, soap, and water. Beds,
rugs, carpet, and anything made of cloth-like material should be thrown
away or thoroughly cleaned. Other areas of the living habitat must
also be treated from lice with chemicals and such.
