What is it?

Ocular Histoplasmosis is a retinal disease that travels and spreads by spores in the air, and can cause retinal bleeding and scarring.

What causes it?

Found mainly in the Mid-East, it is caused by breathing in dust particles around this area. It is often difficult to detect someone infected with ocular histoplasmosis.

Symptoms

  1. flu-like symptoms  
2. blurry vision

Treatment

Laser surgery is an option for this particular disease, but with other ocular immune diseases, antibiotics are often an option, especially since the cause is from a fungus. Transplants of the cornea have also been shown to assist with this type of problem.
