Is Your Sight Blurry?

Find out If You Have One of These Common Conditions Above

Did You Know?
Did you know some sunglasses, especially the cheap ones, can cause more harm to your eyes than good?
Yes
No

What is it?

In a few people, their eyelids can grow inward. And yes, the eyelashes will keep brushing up against the eye every time the patient blinks. What are the results? The patient may become used to the irritation, but the eye does not, so tear production goes up a little and whitish mucus that resembles puss builds up. In others, tear production does not increase, so the outcome is dry rough eyes. It most often occurs on the bottom eyelid and affects the cornea and conjunctiva.

What causes it?

Entropion usually results from a previous condition such as itchy or irritated eyes. There are two degrees of this condition. The temporary form is caused by something like an eyelash and is usually only bothersome for a short while. Chronic entropion arises when the tissue loses its strength forcing the eyelid to move into the eye.

Symptoms

  1. burning, irritated eyes
2. red eyes
3. rough granular feeling

Treatment

Sometimes, a special tape can be placed on the affected eyelid to stop the irritation. However, this can also lead to more severe problems if the eye can't cope with the tape and becomes more aggravated. Surgery is also an option and is sought for a more permanent fix to the problem.
