Find
out If You Have One of These Common Conditions Above
What
is it?
Ectropion
occurs when the eyelashes and eyelids turn out. The eye does
not close correctly and the tissue in the eye (cornea or conjunctiva)
begins to sag. This condition can be extremely bothersome to
the person and can also look abnormal.
What
causes it?
Usually,
it is age-related and happens to those over the age of 60. It is caused
by the deterioration of the eye muscles whose function is to keep
the eyelid in close contact with the eye. Ectropion occurs when the
eye sags leaving the conjunctiva
and cornea open to the air
and causing dryness.

Treatment
Ectropion
can temporarily be treated with liniments, which are designed to stiffen
the eyelid. Surgery, however, is almost inevitable if
the patient wants to completely lose irritation and regain the
normal look of the eye.
