What is it?

Chalazion is the formation of a little lump on the eyelid. This inflammation does not lead to infection however, but results in swelling and some possible pain.

What causes it?

It is caused when an oil producing gland near the eye is blocked creating a lump, like a pimple.

Symptoms

  1. painful bump on eyelid
2. red, swollen eyelid

Treatment

Because this forms way beneath the skin, any ointments would not help the affected area. Warming the area can help stop swelling and soothe the area to stop pain.
