Assignment: Could the Japanese be forgiven for their wartime occupation?
I think that most people will forgive the Japanese for invading. It is because the Americans had begun to bomb the Japanese cities in early 1945. However, the Japanese refused to surrender so the Americans decided to use a weapon that had just been invented, the atomic bomb.
The atomic bomb was more deadly than any other weapon. The first atomic bomb was dropped on the Japanese City of Hiroshima on 6 August 1945, causing great damage and killing many people. When Japan did not surrender, another atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki on 9 August 1945. This finally brought the Japanese to surrender, ending the long drawn-out war in Asia and the Pacific region. On 15 August 1945, the Japanese Emperor announced the end of war to the Japanese people.
I think that two atomic bombs are enough for Japan. The Japanese had suffered enough with the two atomic bombs. After the war, the Japan was not allowed to keep their army and navy and this prevent the outbreak of another war. I think that we should not blame the Japanese because it is the older generation's fault and so the younger generation should not be blamed.
