Women gained voting rights with the addition of the 19th ammendment. Unfortunately, the 18th ammendment was prohibition, argueably the worst ammendment in our constitution. Prohibition gave rise to organized crime and speak easies, which were illegal bars. Jazz also arose which was the first truly classical American musical genre. A moral let down accompanied the end of WWI and led to the KKK amoung other problems. Youth lost their sence of morality. Women cut their hair short and wore their clothing looser. They were also more educated and worked for money. Fads of this time era include marathon dancing, beauty contests, crossword puzzles, sports, flag pole sitting, music, movies, and radio. Some slang of the time: apple sause
