Dinosaur Treks-About Us

Hey, this is Fletch! I usually go by Mr. Fletcher with my students, but somehow when I started teaching here at Jordan High School--the nickname stuck. This fall I start my fourth year of teaching. I graduated from Iowa State University in December of 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry. At that time, I already had my foot in the door at Clarion-Goldfield High School (my former high school located in Iowa). I taught chemistry, physics, and a webpage design class for two years before making the move to Minnesota last year. Now, I am currently the technology coordinator for the Jordan School District along with teaching a couple of chemistry classes.

I became aware of the ThinkQuest competition while I was at Clarion-Goldfield. I tried talking a couple of my students into making a chemistry site, but it never took off. Then this past spring, one of them decided that he wanted to make a go of it. At that time, we decided that an outstanding chemistry site would be a rather difficult site for a few high school students to develop. Instead, we focused our attention on another fascinating topic-Dinosaurs.

I've really enjoyed working with such devoted, hard-working students. I've had the privilege of teaching all three of them, and I have enjoyed coaching this team to success! Best of luck to all three of them in the future. Another big thank-you goes out to Josh Barnd for helping to keep this team organized and motivated!
