                      (1896-1948)                                                                   When he died the Indian leader Pandit Nehru speaking

 to his people said," The light has gone out of our lives and

 there is darkness everywhere. I do not know what to tell you 

and how to say it. Our beloved leader, Bapu as we

call him, the Father of the Nation, is no more.

 The little man who could turn the long-lived

 English colony to an independent nation with

 no bloodshed deserves generations' respect.
