Applications of Aerodynamics

As we already know, we use aerodynamics for a vast many things, such as aircraft, windmills, wind tunnels and many other things.

For instance, space, the absence of aerodynamics.  In space it doesn’t matter what the shape of your object is, it will experience absolutely no air friction, as there is no air.  Because of this, space centers like NASA can put satellites in space with obtrusive solar panels without any fear of them breaking off in the wind.  Because there is no air in space, it only takes a little energy to get something moving and keep it moving.  Objects on earth stop moving because of gravity and the drag experienced by the object.  In space the gravity is limited and air absent.  Therefore it only takes a little energy to get an object moving and keep it moving because there is nothing stopping it from moving.  The absence of air is called a vacuum.

Sound, a longitudinal wave uses air to propagate itself.  In order to make soundproofing, we make windows with two planes and create a vacuum between them.  The sound will travel through the glass but the encounters the vacuum and can no longer move, thus by resulting in zero noise level.
