After scientists announced that they managed to draft the human genome book (06/26/2000), quantum mechanics shall play an instrumental part in designing the drugs of the 21th century. Its unprecedented ability to predict and describe the extremely complex chemical reactions gives quantum mechanics the lead role in the design of the new drugs which will "cure" the disease before it is contracted, via altering the responsible gene.
