These picture bricks are about farming, hunting and the life of soldiers. Their living style are much cared by scholars. The bricks were first coated in white. Then, picture were painted with bright colors and smooth lines.

The lady of the courts is looking in the mirror at her face, and the maid is brushing the other lady's hair. The artist is actually painting from an essay on female morals. However, it is totally different from what the original passage means because the artist has only chosen part of the whole phrase. This painting shows how women make themselves beautiful, but the original phrase is saying that people only knew how to make themselves beautiful and not perfecting their characters.
