The science of studying universe is considered as one of the oldest science among all nature science and it was called "Astronomy" for studying stars and planets but it was mixed with philosophy which causes the delay of its development as it was always untrue and not actual, the real beginning was at Greece although the ancient Egyptians and Chinese had done that before but they haven’t achieved any important things that helped this science except something in the design of the pyramids and the Egyptian temples.
This section includes the following topics:

 What were the Greek's thoughts?

the Greece  was more interested and the philosopher (Anaxirander) began to put a certain system to the universe depends on that the earth is the universe and all other planets are made of fire rings , that was 570 BC then Anaxagoras came but he was interested in the formation of the matter , one of his thoughts that the sky was made of a rare , hot and dry substance while the Earth is made of a dark cold matter.
And the earth is a big circle and sun and other planets rotate around it, that was in 445 BC. Then at 430 BC his friend “leucippus” developed this theory then damocritus added that after planets there is huge space called apieron, that means that democritus were the 1st one who thought that universe is endless, but the 1st one who studied the motion of the universe was Aristotle (340 BC), and he assured that the universe is always constant, and static and it never extend except when it is exerted by a force at its end, the motion of the universe ends, but the scientist Aristarchus announce that the sun is the center and the earth and planets rotate around it, he also measure the distance between the earth and the sun, and although his measurements was false and approximated, his measurements is considered developed with respect to the age he lived (265 BC), but all scientists and philosophers neglected his researches, after that “Claudws Ptolemy” announce that earth is a sphere, and sun, moon, mercury, Venus, marth, Jupiter and Saturn, all rotate around it and it’s the center of the universe, after that no one dare to challenge the system of “Potlemy” inspite of the clear errors and faults in it.

 About Copernicus theory:
until 1543 when “Nicholas Copernicus” contradicts the system of “Potlemy” saying that the sun is the center of the universe, no one believed "Copernicus" and he couldn’t offer anything but his equations and theories which weren't understood, and he was burnt as a result of his scientific faithfulness, in 1610 "Galileo" assured Copernicus’s theories, but he was obliged to deny in order to save his life, but it was the beginning of the end of the system of Plotemy.
