St. Dominic Savio

St. Dominic Savio was born in riva di Chieri , Italy on April 2 1842. His family was not rich in wordly things but was very rich in their devotion to the Lord.

St. Dominic Savio was already gifted with heavenly blessings from his early childhood. He was only five when he learned to serve mass. At 7, he received his first Holy Communion which he made with his great devotion with the following rules:

1. I will go to Confession and receive communion often

2. I will keep holy the feastdays

3. I will have Jesus and Mary as my best friends

4. I will rather die than sin

At 12, he visited Don Bosco and made a decision to enter that Oratory school. There, he started the tread of holiness. He prayed and studied with great seriousness and he was constant in fulfilling his duties well. His kindness and cheerfulness made him friend of all his companions. To help everyone save his soul, he started the Sodality of the Immaculate Conception.

St. Dominic Savio's health was poor, which made him go home to his native village and there he lied to rest peacefully in 1857 at age 15. He was canonized by PopePius XII on June 12, 1954 and became the Patron Saints of teenagers.
