Were the use of the atomic bombs necessary on Japan in WW2?
| The first bomb was called the 'Little
Boy'. It was dropped on the Japanese City of Hiroshima on the
6th of August 1945 which flattened most of the seaport killings, at least
80, 000 civilians and injuring more
than 100, 000
people. the Japanese still did not surrender when the first
bomb was dropped. The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour on 7th
December 1941 in a swift and sudden move. The Americans were
unprepared. Many warships and planes were destroyed and many
Americans were killed. Therefore it is unfair to the Americans
as they unprepared. I would say yes the first atomic bomb was
necessary because the Japanese were reacting very aggressive toward the
people, the civilians wanted to stop the torture, they were very angry
towards the Japanese.
The second bomb was called 'the Fat Man' which was dropped on the city of Nagasaki on 9 August 1945. The second bomb was dropped because the Japanese still did not surrender and when the second bomb was dropped finally Japanese surrendered ending the long drawn-out war in Asia and the Pacific region. The second bomb cause a great damage and killed many people. It is necessary to use the two bombs because the Japanese had tortured a lot of people and now the British wanted Japan to surrender and let the people free from being tortured and killed all the civilians/innocent people. Marks awarded: 14 / 20 Teacher's comments: To score even higher, you need to explain effects of bombs and how the Japanese aggression and brutality justify the use of bombs even if the effects were enormous. |
