DEBATE TOPIC

Were the use of the atomic bombs necessary on Japan in WW2?

In early 1945, American invented the first powerful weapon that is called the 'Little Boy' because they had dropped many bombs but Japan refused to surrender.   So American dropped an atomic bomb to one of the city named Hiroshima.   And they still refused to surrender.   Americans dropped one more atomic bomb but now it is named 'Fat Boy'.   They dropped it on Nagasaki, another city of Japan.   That made Japan surrender on 15 August 1945.

Why was this necessary?

Although the effect of the bomb were disastrous, it is still necessary.   Here are the effects of the bomb and the reasons why it was necessary to use it again.   Firstly, Japan bombed to Pearl Harbour.   They did it by surprise.   they did not give any warning.   And so it was unfair because they could not prepare themselves.   Civilians died because they couldn't get shelter.   Warships and planes were destroyed and Americans got angry.   Secondly, Japan was aggressive to many countries such as British, Denmark and Norway.   The first bomb was necessary because we wanted to threaten them so that they will surrender.   But as you see they still didn't surrender that is why they dropped the second bomb.   The Japanese suffered terribly and their land was destroyed.

Effects of the bomb:

The bomb is very powerful.   When the Americans dropped the atomic bombs on two of the cities in Japan, the Japanese vanished in the air.   Realizing that Malaya was lost, the British troupes blew up the causeway which linked Malaya and Singapore.   This drastic action was taken in the hope of slowing down the Japanese towards Singapore.
