The Creators

This site was created by Edgar Hernandez and Jai Saelee. This site began with the painting Guernica by Pablo Picasso and was then reinvented by our desire to showcase other artists of war.  With the guidance of both of our coaches Dave and Sharon, we were able to complete the site and present the works that depict the influences of war on artists and their works.

Art and the Influence of War is an educational site. Per phone conversation with the Artists Rights Society, it was stated that educational sites can use artwork under Fair Use. Due to this  phone conversation, Edgar Hernandez and Jai Saelee, team members of "Art and the Influence of War", selected a group of artwork from artists represented by the Artists Rights Society to use within the site with the sole purpose of educating the readers about art and the influence that war has presented to artists and the artwork that they create.

The Night, Max Beckmann, on http://fp2.thinkquest.org/C005707F/beckman.htm

Soldiers, Marc Chagall, on http://fp2.thinkquest.org/C005707F/chagall.htm

Artotheek, ArieWols, on http://fp2.thinkquest.org/C005707F/wols.htm

Due to our inability to obtain permission to use the following original lithographs, one of the team members (Edgar Hernandez) reinterpreted these works for this site:

Angels and Aeroplanes, A Common Grave, Natalia Gonchorova.

We were unable to obtain permission to use the following artworks, and instead provide links to locations where they can be viewed.  The full references are displayed in the status bar as the mouse is moved over the link:
