Service & Efficiency:
This is essentially not a section
meant for propaganda but an objective perspective of the Singaporean postal
system, which I am sure many locals and foreigners alike will agree with.
Service is generally excellent at
all Singapore Post outlets. Last Halloween I had sent a skull cup to my Korean
friend and it was indeed difficult to get the whole fragile porcelain cup
wrapped up. The counter staff was very patient and helped me wrap up the
odd-shaped present with layers of styrofoam before choosing an appropriate
package box. What impressed me most was that they went out of their way to help
me, when it was actually my own responsibility to get the present wrapped up by
myself.
Efficiency is definitely
uncompromised in Singapore like most other Singaporean commercial enterprises, Singapore
Airlines especially. In all my years as a resident, my local mail has never
been lost and for a low fee of just 25 cents (USD $0.14) you can get your mail
delivered to your friend's doorstep by the next working day guaranteed.
International mail is handled just as efficiently. There are staff stationed at
Singapore Post to decipher Japanese and Chinese postal addresses. In addition,
excellent communications between the airmail centers and Changi International
Airport ensure outgoing mail leaves for its destination on the earliest flights
possible. For most international destinations, the standard time for mail to be
received by your foreign friend is 5 working days at a low fee of 50-70 cents
(USD$0.30 - 0.41). |
