Why We Chose This Topic | Our Aims For This Project

Take a fascinating whirlwind tour through the various postal systems in the world. Covering more than 60 postal systems around the globe, we will explore the colors and contrasts of international postal systems from the breezy isles of the Faroes to the exotic heartland of South Africa. See how unity in diversity exists as the vastly different postal systems worldwide cooperate together to form an international network, with air and sea-mail routes functioning as arteries and veins of this global mail circulatory system. Aside from the mere technicalities of postal service, the World Mail team exposes you to fresh perspectives, in terms of a vast repertoire of humanitarian disciplines - economics, geography, social science and history. Explore the postal service - essentially the most underrated humanity in this modern age.

Why We Chose This Topic
The topic of our site is "Postal systems around the world: how they work and how they affect our daily lives".  We chose this topic because postal services play such a large role in our lives, yet we hardly know anything about them.  The postal service is a fascinating topic, and a lot of that fascination is due to a lack of any previous knowledge about it.  Sometimes even people who work for the postal service forget how little people know about what they do.

Our Aims For This Project
Our primary goal is to show people how mail systems work on a global scale.  International mail cannot be delivered without the cooperation of several countries, and each country's postal service has its own unique aspects.  Hence the name "World Mail", as we are not going to discuss a single country's postal system, but the postal systems in countries all around the world.  This goal is derived from the very purpose of ThinkQuest, which is learning on an international level.
